This is a list of the free Joomla templates that I've found online. If you are new to Joomla, it is recommended that you try out Joomla with some free templates before purchasing some fancy templates from some paid templates or membership.

My aim is to provide all users who are new to Joomla an exhaustive list of websites containing "usable" templates. I've not included some of the websites that provide free templates because some of their templates provided are totally crap and it's obvious that they are only keen at attracting traffic to their paid templates.

 Most of the websites require you to register as a member on their site before you can download the templates.

WEBSITES WITH FREE TEMPLATES

1.    JoomlaShack.com has 3 Templates that are very useful for beginners (JS Industry, JS Education, JS Bold 1.5). They are nice in design and easy to use.

Downside: You cannot download directly from the site. You have to submit a form and wait for an email for the link to download the templates. Nonetheless the 3 Templates are pretty good.

2.    Redevolution.com is one of my favorite sites for free Joomla templates. Their templates are excellent and can easily match the commerical templates. 

Register on the website first and start downloading.

 3.  IBOLDESIGN.com has some free templates.

4.    JoomlaDesigns.co.uk

JoomlaDesigns.co.uk provides some templates that are nice and simpe. I especially like the GHK series, which will prove useful if you want to do something like joomla.org where there is a different theme for different subdomains.

PROS: What i like about this site is that you do not have to register with the site before you are able to download the templates.
